Job Description |
The engineer is responsible to design rehabilitative pipe projects in technical scope and provide solutions to unconventional project work or problems that arise. This work involves development and project management including professional/technical design preparation and reviews, project public communication, analyze and complete tender documents, exercising independent personal judgement and the application of engineering principles and practices with respect to the sewer industry. |

Typical Duties |
- Apply engineering practices and principles for the planning, design and operation of rehabilitative and inspection projects
- Prepare construction specifications as well as cost and materials estimates
- Offer alternative rehabilitative approaches when conventional approaches are not applicable
- Attend meetings with customers as needed
- Supervise technical investigations to gather appropriate data to design specified project
- Analyze gathered data appropriately and design solutions accordingly
- Make recommendations for material selection and fabrication details
- Mentor Reline Manager and Reline Project Manager
- Assist with technical report writing and tender document submissions
- Prepare strategic execution plans
- Provide guidance and leadership to reline crews
- Communicate with Reline Manager, Reline Project Manager, Reline Foreman and other Reline crews to provide details on project parameters
- Communicate with Reline Foreman to update them on project changes, issues, etc..
- Act as liaison between field and office
- Provide solutions when problems arise, may require rapid response and thinking outside the box
- Completes appropriate quality control, assigned paperwork and safety checks
- Provide excellent standards of customer service to maintain a positive company image and ensure customer satisfaction with received service
- Abide by and act in accordance with all company policies, operating and training procedures as outlined in the employee manual
- Safety is priority one for IVIS and its employees – all employees must comply with all government and corporate safety procedures; must attend all safety meetings

Knowledge, Abilities and Skills |
- Knowledge of the underground infrastruture industry, including guidelines, materials, tools, equipment, technical calculations and rehabilitative methods
- Ability to plan, schedule and assign work of crews including training and communiction updates
- Ability to complete applicable reports, calculations, records and administrative tasks
- Ability to communicate effectively with members of the public, staff and subordinates as well as others who are involved in the project process.
- Ability to give presentations
- Ability to think outside of the box and analyze uncommon situations
- Strong computer skills
- Must be capable of independent judgement

Training and Experience Requirements |
- A Bachelor Degree in Civil Engineering
- Registration as a P. Eng would be considered an asset
- A minimum of five (5) years of analytical experience in utility design, construction or operations
- Prior experience in identifying potential infrastruture issues would be beneficial
