Job Description

 

The Apprentice Truck Mechanic is responsible to learn how to repair, troubleshoot, adjust, overhaul and maintain all company vehicles and equipment. Mechanics will be performing service and general maintenance repairs to a fleet of trucks, truck-mounted equipment, utility trailers and other equipment.

Typical Duties

 

• Safety is priority one for IVIS and its employees - all apprentice truck mechanics must comply with all government and corporate safety procedures; must attend all safety meetings
  
• Troubleshoot, diagnose and complete all necessary repairs on company equipment and vehicles
  
• Communicate with shop technician regarding extent of repairs and assistance needed
  
• Complete all vehicle/equipment maintenance and inspections
  
• Responsible for monitoring and meeting department budget
  
• Responsible to ensure all mechanical work completed in a safe manner
  
• Input information for purchase order
  
• Must be able to perform in shop as well as on site when necessary
  
• Must act in a courteous manner to portray a positive company image
  
• Be approachable to ensure employees communicate fleet needs

• Currently enrolled in Heavy Duty Mechanic Apprentice Program
